She will become Dean of the School of Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), effective February 2027. Slaughter will remain in her current position at New America through June 30, 2026.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nPaul Butler, New America\u2019s President and Chief Transformation Officer, will serve as Interim CEO, effective July 1, 2026.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u201cOn behalf of the New America Board of Directors, I can\u2019t overstate how deeply we have valued Anne-Marie\u2019s visionary leadership over the past 13 years. Guided always by an unwavering dedication to our mission, she has led us with consummate integrity, a vigorous intellectual curiosity, and exceptional empathy,\u201d said Sally Osberg, Chair of New America\u2019s Board of Directors. \u201cDuring her tenure, Anne-Marie has strengthened our partnerships, renewed our sense of purpose, and deepened our impact. As a result, she leaves a strong and resilient New America, well-positioned for even greater relevance and impact in the years ahead.\u201d<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u201cIt has been a true honor to work with everyone at New America, our partners, supporters, and our broader community in advancing work that is both urgent and deeply meaningful,\u201d said Slaughter. \u201cI am very proud of what we have accomplished together, particularly with regard to the ways we are integrating ideas and action, and I am grateful for the passion, innovation, and collaboration that define New America at its best. As I prepare to step into my next role, I carry with me a deep appreciation for this work and a new perspective on how the world should educate the next generation of students committed to solving public problems. I also have full confidence in the leadership team we have built at New America and the organization\u2019s ability to generate big ideas and bold solutions for the America that we are becoming.\u201d<\/span>\r\n\r\nSlaughter will transition to a new role at New America as a Senior Advisor, in which she will continue to provide strategic insight and policy counsel to the organization through the end of 2026. New America\u2019s Board of Directors will oversee the transition process, and Monica C. Lozano, Vice Chair of the Board, will manage the search process for New America\u2019s permanent CEO.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nSince 2013, Slaughter has served as New America\u2019s CEO, following her tenure on New America\u2019s Board of Directors. She is a globally recognized scholar, policy innovator, and public leader whose career spans academia, government, and civil society. She previously served as the Director of Policy Planning for the U.S. State Department, the first woman to hold the position, Dean of the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, and a professor at Harvard Law School, where she helped define the emerging field of international law and international relations.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nSlaughter has written and lectured widely on foreign policy, gender equality and caregiving, and American renewal and democratic reform. She is the author or editor of nine books, including <\/span>Renewal: From Crisis to Transformation in Our Lives, Work, and Politics<\/span><\/i><\/a> (Princeton University Press, 2021), <\/span>Unfinished Business: Women, Men, Work, Family<\/span><\/i><\/a> (Random House, 2015), <\/span>The Chessboard and the Web<\/span><\/i><\/a> (Yale University Press, 2017), and <\/span>The Idea That Is America: Keeping Faith with Our Values in a Dangerous World<\/span><\/i><\/a> (Basic Books, 2007). Unfinished Business<\/em> was named a best book of the year by <\/span>The Washington Post<\/span><\/i>, NPR, and <\/span>The Economist<\/span><\/i> and was a finalist for <\/span>The Financial Times<\/span><\/i> Best Business Book of the Year. Her 2012 article \u201c<\/span>Why Women Still Can\u2019t Have It All<\/span><\/a>\u201d in <\/span>The Atlantic<\/span><\/i> became the most-read piece in the magazine\u2019s history at the time and sparked a global conversation about gender, work, and caregiving. Slaughter is a contributing editor to <\/span>The Financial Times<\/span><\/i> and a regular columnist for Project Syndicate.<\/span>\r\n\r\nSlaughter\u2019s leadership has been recognized around the world. She is a recipient of France\u2019s Legion of Honor, the Berlin Prize, and Harvard Law School\u2019s Award for Global Leadership, among many other distinctions, and has been regularly named one of Washington\u2019s most powerful women by <\/span>The Washingtonian<\/span><\/i>.
